Many anti cancer drugs, antibiotics and vaccine will now become more affordable. After seven years, the government has released the National List of Essential Medicines (NLEM), 2022. The company cannot increase the price of the drugs including in the list on its own volition.As per the new list, a total of 384 medicines in 27 category will become affordable and the cost of patients will come down. 34 new medicines have been included in this. If all the drugs are combined, there would be more than a thousand formulation available in the market. Apart from this, 26 medicines have been removed from the list. Four major drugs effective in Cancer treatment are bendamustine hydrochloride, iriotecan HCL trihydrate, lenalidomide and leuprolide acetate.

Not A Single Medicine of Corona is included in the list.

Medicines included in the COVID protocol were not kept. The government says that these medicines are still in the categories of emergency use and their concrete results are yet to come. NLEM, 2022 included 384 drugs. Of these, 342 drugs are divided into single therapeutic categories, 41 into two therapeutic categories, 11 into three therapeutic categories and 4 drugs into therapeutic categories has been added to the new list. In addition to these, drugs used in psychotherapy include nicotine replacement therapy and buprenorphine. Oral Rehydration Salts, paracetamol, Rivavirin, Mupirocin, Meropenem, streptomycin, lorazepam and ivermectin have also found a place in the new list. The National Pharmaceutical Pricing Authority had put 42 anti cancer drugs under price control. They are all on this list.

Removed these drugs from the list 

Ranitidine, sucalfate, white petroleum, 26 like atenolol and methylodopa have been removed from the list. Reasons behind this are the high cost of medicines and the availability of medicines than these.

Heart disease, ear-nose-throat medicines also..

Medicines for ear, nose, throat and gastrointestinal infection have been included in the list, apart from heart diseases, nervous system and anti infective drugs. There are also hormones, other endocrine and contraceptive drugs. Non existent formulation removed from the market a senior official said that many formulations which were present in 2015 and are no longer available in the market have been removed from the list. For example thiosulfate injection 100mg morphine tablet 20mg excluded. Changes from 2011 till date there were a total of 348 medicines.
